April 14th 2008: LONDON Jabre Capital Partners, a Geneva-based hedge fund firm, is using information technology specialists TheCitySecret to develop bespoke software for its core trading system. The IT firm also will work on client reporting and fee management systems and the development of a dedicated web site for investors. "It is the fact that this project involves the further development of front- and middle-office systems that is so unusual," said Martin Worner, director of TheCitySecret, in a statement. "Many investment companies outsource their back-office IT requirements, such as setting up prime brokering networks, but bringing in external specialists to develop customized software is, to my knowledge, rare." March 18th 2008: Global Custody Solutions of Credit Suisse has been rated "Best Global Custodian 2008" in this year's R&M survey. Credit Suisse not only ranked first among reputable providers of global custody services in Switzerland and abroad, it also improved its overall score significantly over the previous year. This result is based on a global customer survey conducted by the independent, London-based firm R&M Consultants. This annual survey of approximately 900 pension funds, portfolio managers, insurance companies and banks assesses some 40 different criteria in areas such as custody and administration of securities, handling of corporate actions, securities deliveries, securities accounting, performance tracking and client reporting. March 12th 2008: Third Financial Software, a technology company focused on delivering software and services solutions to the investment management community, has been set up. The company was founded by Stewart and Roger Foster, owners of private equity group Third Financial Ventures, together with the former Managing Director of Financial Objects Wealth Management Division, Gary Linieres and CTO, Peter Caddick. According to the company, in late 2007 Third Financial Software acquired the intellectual property to a new investment management system, which has provided the foundation for TERCERO, the company's third generation investment management platform. The platform provides integrated Investor Relationship Management, asset management, client reporting and business driven alerts. The solution can reportedly be deployed either as stand-alone components integrated with existing systems, or delivered as a single complete platform. More

March 10th 2008: Advent Study Shows Client Reporting and Compliance Software Lead Rise in Industry Information Technology (IT) Spending. Advent Software, Inc. today released the results of a 2007 Asset Management Operations and Compensation Study, which reveals almost universal increases in 2007 spending, small to mid-size firms generally saw the highest increases in costs.
